A dental bridge is exactly what it sounds like—it
“bridges the gap” where one or more teeth are missing.
It works by anchoring
a false tooth (or teeth) between two healthy teeth or dental implants. The replacement teeth, called
pontics, are made from strong, natural-looking materials like porcelain or ceramic.
When you lose a tooth, more than just your appearance is affected. Your teeth work together like a team, and when one is lost,
the others start shifting around to fill the space.
If missing teeth are left untreated, it can lead to:• Difficulty chewing or eating certain foods
• Speech problems
• Bone loss in the jaw
• Crooked teeth or bite changes
• Facial sagging or “sunken” cheeks
• More wear and tear on your remaining teeth
A dental bridge
helps prevent all of that, while also giving you back your complete, confident smile.
Most people with one or more missing teeth are candidates for a dental bridge. Even if you have some oral health issues like gum disease or bone loss, we can often treat those first and
get you ready for a long-lasting bridge.Dr. Landress will examine your teeth, talk with you about your goals, and create a plan that works for your health and
your lifestyle.
